The Field

The Field is an experiment in collectively creating and sustaining a neighbourhood resource in New Cross. We hope it can be a place to come together, to meet each other, to share ideas, to talk about concerns, to organise, to act; a place to make small experiments that could turn into bigger things; a place for different people and groups in the area to think critically about life in this neighbourhood; to share our experiences, knowledge, resources, skills, ideas, needs, desires and struggles, and to think together of other ways of living and sustaining ourselves in New Cross. http://...

laurie grove baths

Former public baths now Goldsmiths property. From Goldsmiths' website: "Laurie Grove baths is one of those special buildings. Thousands of south Londoners learned to swim here. It was a place where childhood memories were made. The pools were closed in 1991. In 1994 the building became the home of the Centre for Urban and Community Research, and an international renowned research centre on city life. It couldn't be a more perfect context to conduct urban studies, for the building itself is like a microcosm of the social history of the area."
